On March 26-27, 2012 at the Warsaw School of Economics (Poland) the ECA Regional e-Institute Consultations Workshop was held. Elena Belova, Secretary General of ICSER Leontief Centre and Olga Rusetskaya, Head of Investment Department of ICSER Leontief Cent re participated in the Workshop, which organized by the World Bank Institute (WBI) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in partnership with the Warsaw School of Economics. The "e-Institute for Development" – a global e-platform for development learning – was created by WBI to offer development practitioners a virtual learning classroom to share high quality learning and knowledge resources. The e-Institute is reaching out directly to policy makers, civil society organizations, media, parliaments, private sector, academia and youth – the key “stakeholders for change”. It is envisioned to become a collaborative effort with knowledge partners including national and regional training institutions and networks, think-tanks, and universities. The consultations workshop aims to present the concept and approach of the e-Institute, provide practical course examples, and discuss with partners and knowledge institutions across the Europe and Central Asia (ECA) region how to best apply this instrument in specific countries. It will explore how to expand the e-Institute offerings jointly with the country partners. In the seminar participated about 30 representatives of leading higher education institutions from more than 12 ECA countries, alongside World Bank and UNDP experts. More details about the e-Institute could be obtained by visiting its Web site at http://einstitute.worldbank.org/ei/ |
