2025-03-17 :: XXIII Annual Conference from the Leontief Readings Series – “Innovative Practices of Russian Cities”
On March 14-15, 2025, the 23rd Annual Conference from the Leontief Readings series – “Innovative Practices of Russian Cities” was held in St. Petersburg. Organizer: ANO “Leontief Center ICSER”. JSC Leontief Center ICSER provided expert support for the conference. The event was held in a mixed format.
More than 120 people took part in the conference. 38 leading Russian scientists and specialists, as well as young researchers, made presentations. The focus was on the issues of urban modernization, their perception and adaptation of innovations, conditioned, among other things, by the specifics of the social structure and local environment, socio-cultural characteristics of the population, social capital, and local identity. The following were discussed:

diffusion of innovations, features of the spread of specific innovations in Russian cities;

the influence of socio-cultural characteristics of the city population on the attitude towards certain managerial, organizational, technological and urban planning innovations;
-
comparison of the spread and adaptation of specific management innovations in a number of Russian cities;
-
the role of youth in the innovative development of cities;
-
the role of city regimes and coalitions, as well as the worldview of elites in the innovative development of cities;
-
the role of production and professional networks in the spread and adaptation of innovations;
-
the interaction of the global and the local in the innovative development of cities.
The final part of the conference included an expert discussion "Express portraits of five cities (Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Petrozavodsk, Pskov, Cherepovets) and their attitude to innovation", held jointly with the Union of Cities of the Central and North-West of Russia.
A collection of reports will be published in the summer of 2025 based on the results of the conference.
